The Good News – the Bible is relevant today!
The Bible is not simply the story of a small group of people who 3,000 years ago occupied a small plot of land in an unremarkable part of the world.
The Bible is a unique book in that it was written by approximately 40 different writers over a period of about 1,600 years. Some of the writers were Kings and Princes, others Priests, Prophets, Farmers Fishermen, Civil servants and Soldiers and yet it has onestory running from beginning to end with unerring accuracy.
Contrary to popular belief it does not contradict itself, it is not simply an inaccurate history book and never deviates from an unfolding plan running through it.
The Bible tells us that God made the world and everything in it. It tells us that man was the pinnacle of that creation and that he had a unique relationship with God, until sin entered the world and destroyed that relationship as God is Holy and cannot tolerate sin of any kind.
Because sin entered the world we are all born as sinful creatures and now live in a fallen world, a world not as God created or intended it to be, and are separated from the fellowship with God which we were designed to have.
More than that however we will find that when we die, and none of us know when that will be, we are destined for a time of eternal separation from God in a place of eternal suffering and torment in a place the Bible calls Hell.
If we are honest we have to admit that our world is in a terrible mess of constant wars, famines and natural disasters and that none of these are likely to, on their own, get any better.
But the Bible tells us about Gods plan which involved sending his own son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into the world to live as a man and to die to pay the penalty for our sins.
So that if we repent of our sins and believe in Him, the Lord Jesus Christ, then all of our sins are forgiven and our relationship with God is restored and when we die we will go to live with Him in eternity in a place known as Heaven – a perfect world in which there is only harmony and peace.
But that peace is not just something that we get in the future when we die it is something that is available immediately.
When we ask the Lord Jesus Christ into our lives as our personal saviour our relationship with God is restored immediately and the Holy Spirit comes and lives within us giving us a constant sense of God’s peace and forgiveness.
So this is the good news – you do not have to bear your burdens alone, whatever your problems in life you can today have peace with God and a friend who is always with you.
This is the Good News of Salvation with we want to share with you TODAY!
